Frequently Asked Questions

Capsule was designed as a more concise, targeted design process than our SFD full-service interior design offering. If you have a trusted builder and solid floor plans already, the clock is ticking, and you need to get your builder prepared to execute, Capsule is for you. If you’re interested in a full-home conceptual vision, interior architecture & space planning, ongoing construction & project management through completion, furniture and window treatments – a full-service proposal from Stephanie Freeman Design is likely a better fit for your needs.

6-8 weeks, from kickoff to delivery of your final Capsule, with all specs ready to order.
-
No, Capsule does not do any purchasing of products. The final digital file will include all relevant specs, quantities, finishes, and showroom contacts, so that it’s easy and straightforward for your contractor to purchase. While we strive to only specify in-stock materials, if any item within your Capsule becomes unavailable, we will provide a substitution at no additional design fee.

Part of our intake process includes a detailed client questionnaire. We gather all the facts about your household, as well as prompt you with visuals to gauge your aesthetic preferences (modern vs. traditional, color vs neutral, etc). We have an extensive vault of reference and inspiration imagery that we will also reference on our live kickoff as needed to ensure we understand your likes and dislikes before we begin our work.
-
We’ll have two live, 60-minute Zooms: A Project Kickoff and a Design Presentation. We include up to three additional 30-minute phone calls and ongoing email communication during the active project time period.
-
Yes, we provide elevation drawings for all kitchens & bathrooms, which include cabinets and vanities, showing heights and widths of drawers and doors. Our room boards will include a door profile and finish (paint or stain) recommendation. However, your contractor and their cabinet vendor will then take over managing the shop drawings and finer details (for example, interior drawer organization) leading up to ordering of cabinets.
-
If we’d recommend it as part of your kitchen, bathroom, or laundry/mud concept, then we include a spec in your presentation.
-
No problem, we’re happy to help. We’ll provide a la carte flat rate pricing for these areas once we have a conversation with you to understand your needs.
-
One of the first things we’ll do is meet with your contractor to review the budget allowances they are carrying for your project. We’ll give you our honest take on whether they are adequate. And regardless, we’ll specify within that budget. Pricing will be clearly indicated in our presentation, with no designer markup from us. We do not provide selections for a “range” of budget options - only selections that meet the budget we aligned on before we execute the design.
-
No - because with floor plans and site photos & videos from you and/or your contractor, we can get right to work. As we dive into drawings, we will verify any unclear or missing dimensions, to ensure the supplemental drawings we provide are accurate. We’ll also Zoom with your builder to review the final Capsule and address any questions he or she may have.
